Biacuplasty™
Biacuplasty is a treatment option using simple radio waves to provide pain relief from degenerative discs.
Almost 80% of the population, from teens to the elderly, will experience pain from degenerative discs in their backs. Biacuplasty is a new procedure to treat pain stemming from disc degeneration and was first performed in the region by Dr. Whyte and Louisiana Pain Physicians.
The Biacuplasty procedure involves inserting two probes into the disc under x-ray guidance. These probes deliver radio wave heating therapy along with cooling. This kills the nerves that are causing the pain and strengthens the spine. The procedure takes only 15-17 minutes to perform and patients walk out of the office at the conclusion of the procedure.
Louisiana Pain Physicians was the first site in the United States to perform a multi-center trial for Biacuplasty that also included the Cleveland Clinic. Dr. Whyte was recently chosen by Baylis Medical Company, Inc. to be the featured physician on an international training CD-ROM for disc Biacuplasty.
